Police in Basingstoke have arrested and charged a man following a significant crackdown on Class A drug dealers in the area.
Akeem Durowoju, 21, of no fixed address, faces two counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs. He is due to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court today, Wednesday 26 April.
A 34-year-old woman from Basingstoke was also arrested on suspicion of involvement in supplying cocaine and other Class B drugs. She has since been released but remains under police investigation.
The operation, carried out on Tuesday 25 April, involved executing four warrants across Buckskin, Eastrop, and South Ham. Officers seized suspected Class A drugs, cash, and drug paraphernalia during the raids.
The raids were part of Operation Fortress, Hampshire Constabulary’s ongoing campaign to dismantle drug networks and reduce drug-related violence in the region.
Inspector Ben Taylor said, “Class A drugs like crack cocaine and heroin do tremendous harm to the people whose lives are blighted by addiction. We are determined to identify drug networks that operate in Basingstoke and will continue to disrupt the activities of dealers.”
Members of the public are encouraged to report any suspicious activity by calling police on 101 or dialing 999 if a crime is in progress. Anonymous reports can be sent via email to [email protected] or through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
