Nine campaigners from the group Take Back Power have been charged with criminal damage after a series of protests at famous London landmarks.

Manure Mayhem at The Ritz

On 3 December 2025, protesters doused The Ritz hotel in Piccadilly with manure, causing public outrage. Four activists have been charged in connection with this incident: Ellen Redwood-Brown, 23, from Bristol; Tom Barber, 66, from Nottingham; Toby Ellwood, 21, from Leeds; and Tjalle Rumley, 26, from Acton.

Redwood-Brown and Barber are scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 20 April 2026. Ellwood and Rumley will appear at the same court on Wednesday, 29 April 2026.

Crumble and Custard Chaos at the Tower

On 6 December 2025, another group of activists threw crumble and custard at the Crown Jewels in a protest stunt. Four suspects have been charged for this event: Fatima Ali, 19, from Tower Hamlets; Miriam Cranch, 22, from Leeds; Mack Preston, 22, from Tower Hamlets; and Matthew Cooper, 50, from Bath.

They are due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 27 April 2026.

Shoplifting Charge Hits Plymouth Man

In a separate case, 66-year-old David Kilroy from Plymouth faces theft charges related to an organised shoplifting raid at a Sainsbury’s store in Lewisham on 14 March 2026.

Kilroy is scheduled to appear at Bexley Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 29 April 2026.
