Two Charged Over Murder of Sarah Mayhew in Croydon

Defendants Appear in Court

Gemma Watts, 48, from Holmbury Grove, Forestdale, Croydon, and Steven Samson, 44, of Burnell Road, Sutton, have appeared at Bromley Magistrates’ Court. They face charges connected to the murder of 38-year-old Sarah Mayhew.

Both suspects’ identities were confirmed during the hearing. The case has now been sent to the Old Bailey for a pre-trial preparation hearing scheduled for Thursday, April 11, where they are expected to enter their pleas.

Remand and Next Steps

Watts and Samson will remain in custody until their next court appearance. The charges come after police launched a murder investigation following the discovery of human remains on Rowdown Fields, New Addington.

Sarah Mayhew’s family has been informed and are receiving ongoing support during this difficult time.
