Paedophile Jailed for a Decade After Historic Child Sex Abuse Case Uncovered
A 64-year-old man has been locked up for ten years after being found guilty of multiple historic child sex offences spanning over two decades. Detectives uncovered new victims during their investigation, finally bringing Tahir Mahmood to justice.
Ten Years Behind Bars for Tahir Mahmood
Tahir Mahmood, from Wentworth Road, Southall, was sentenced at Isleworth Crown Court on Monday, 4 December. He was convicted of:
- Ten counts of indecent assault on a male
- Four counts of indecency with a child
- One count of sexual assault
Mahmood also received a Sexual Harm Prevention Order to keep him away from potential victims.
Victims Speak Out—Detectives Praise Their Courage
During the two-week trial, Mahmood denied all charges despite overwhelming evidence from three victim-survivors who were children when abused between 1984 and 2004.
Detective Sergeant Mitesh Mulji said: “Mahmood is a vile predator who thought he had escaped justice for over 30 years. This case proves that no matter how long ago, we will hunt down abusers and hold them to account.”
“These brave survivors endured years of suffering. I want to commend them for their incredible strength and courage in coming forward and testifying.”
“If anyone else was victimised by Mahmood, please come forward. We will support you fully.”
The Grim Details: Grooming and Abuse Over Two Decades
The court heard Mahmood targeted three boys between the ages of 9 and 17, taking them to secluded spots across Southall and Hounslow to carry out assaults. He groomed his victims by buying food and expensive gifts, then threatened self-harm to keep them silent.
The police investigation kicked off after a victim came forward in September 2018. As detectives dug deeper, two more victims were identified.
Mahmood was arrested, interviewed twice, and charged in November 2021.
Sexual Offences Investigative Techniques Officer Claire Merrifield added: “It doesn’t matter when the abuse happened—justice can still be served. Reporting sexual crimes is difficult, but survivors will be supported by trained professionals.”
The court’s firm message: predators will be hunted down, no matter how long they think they’ve got away with it.
