Border Force Nab Man with Suitcases Full of Cash
Lukas Pokorny was busted on 8 November 2020 by Border Force just as he tried to board a flight to Dubai. The officers found over £860,000 stuffed inside three locked suitcases he couldn’t open or explain. The huge haul sparked a joint crackdown by the National Crime Agency (NCA) and Police Scotland.
Pokorny’s Excuses Fall Flat
When questioned, Pokorny claimed he was heading to the UAE to visit a friend and planned to use the cash to teach jet-skiing. Authorities saw through the story and charged him under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002. Crime Chiefs Praise Team Effort
Gerry McLean, NCA’s regional head for Scotland, said this cash haul struck a massive blow against organised crime. He added: “This money was destined for criminal activity and violence on Scotland’s streets – stopping it stops harm.”
Detective Inspector Tom Gillan of the Organised Crime Partnership (Scotland) echoed the praise. He called the arrest and conviction a win for joint forces including the NCA, Police Scotland, and Border Force. “This is another significant step in cutting off criminal cash flows,” Gillan said.
