Drama struck Pagham Harbour on Saturday as two Russian nationals found themselves trapped by the rising tide. Sussex Police raced to the scene after an emergency call and kept the pair on the line, using an interpreter to guide them through the crisis.

RNLI Lifeboat Race Against the Tide

At 8.46pm, the Selsey RNLI crew launched their inshore lifeboat and arrived within minutes. The stranded man and woman were quickly fitted with lifejackets and taken aboard. Plans to land on Pagham beach were scrapped due to a dangerous swell.

Coastguard and Paramedics Ready on Shore

The lifeboat sped to Selsey, where the Coastguard Rescue Team and ambulance crew waited. Both victims were brought safely ashore and treated for mild hypothermia before being rushed to hospital.

Despite calm conditions and good visibility, the sudden turn of the tide left no room for mistakes. A tense rescue with a happy ending.
