A 15-year-old boy is fighting for his life after a terrifying crash between his bike and a car in Penge.

Crash on Hawthorn Grove

Police were scrambled to Hawthorn Grove at around 4.30pm on Tuesday, January 27, following reports of a serious collision involving a cyclist and a car. Emergency teams found the teenager critically injured at the scene.

Massive Emergency Response

The London Ambulance Service launched a full-scale operation, dispatching crews, a clinical team manager, a response car clinician, an incident response officer, and the city’s air ambulance. Paramedics worked desperately to stabilise the boy before rushing him to a major trauma centre in London.

A spokesperson said: “We treated a teenager at the scene before taking him to a London major trauma centre.”

The driver stayed at the scene and is fully cooperating with the Metropolitan Police. No arrests have been made so far. Specialist officers are offering support to the victim’s family at this difficult time.

Police Seek Witnesses and Footage

Officers are urging anyone who saw the crash or has dashcam or CCTV footage to come forward immediately. Witnesses should call 101 or the witness appeal line on 020 7175 0754, quoting reference 5099/27JAN26.
