Taxi Driver Dies Alone in Car on Southampton Road – No Foul Play Suspected

A man was found dead inside his car on Merryoak Road, Southampton, yesterday afternoon. Police confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious.

Emergency crews were called just after 2pm on November 22 after a 62-plate silver Citroen Picasso was spotted stationary on Merryoak Road with a man inside. Paramedics, police, and firefighters rushed to the scene.

Because of the man’s size and position, firefighters had to use hydraulic cutters to remove the driver’s door, rear doors, and B pillar to reach him. Sadly, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Neighbours Raise Alarm After Finding Car Unmoved

Locals say the vehicle had been in the same spot for some time. One unnamed resident told us: “I raised the alarm. It’s very sad to think he died alone.”

The victim was a taxi driver from the local area, working around Southampton and Eastleigh.

Police Say Heart Attack Likely Cause of Death

A Hampshire Police spokesperson said no suspicious circumstances are suspected. “The man may have died from a heart attack overnight. A report is being prepared for the coroner.”
