Blackout Horror at Aberavon Beach: Woman Rescued from Deadly Surf
On the terrifying night of 11 December 2025, a savage storm unleashed chaos at Aberavon Beach. Pitch-black darkness and roaring waves made rescue a nightmare. But when a 66-year-old woman vanished into the storm, six brave South Wales Police officers risked everything to save her.
Heroic Rescue Amid Raging Waves
PC Molly Cana spotted the woman trapped, upside down between the wave breakers and pier, constantly battered by monstrous waves. With no fancy gear, the officers formed a human chain, fighting the furious sea to reach her.
Alongside her son-in-law, they tied a rope to her ankle and pulled her through the relentless surf. They gave her first aid on the spot until ambulance crews took over.
Bravery Honoured: Lifesavers Nominated for Awards
Despite serious injuries, the woman survived thanks to the quick wits and teamwork of the officers. The heroic six – PC Molly Cana, Special Constables Colin Davies and David Bird, PCs Robert Morgan and Daniel Davies, and Sergeant Paul Bamsey – are now up for bravery awards.
