Just 30 minutes later, officers were called to reports of a stabbing at a nearby shop on St Marks Road. One man was rushed to hospital with serious stab wounds.
Police Hunt Hit-and-Run Driver
West Midlands Police Superintendent Chris Mallet said: “Tragically a pedestrian has lost his life and my thoughts are with his family. We have a specialist liaison officer with them at this tragic time.”
He added: “We believe we have recovered the offending silver car, which will be forensically examined. Enquiries are moving quickly, and we are reviewing CCTV and road cameras to find the hit-and-run driver.”
Supt Mallet also said it’s unclear if the stabbing is connected to the crash.
Call for Witnesses
Police are urging anyone who was driving or cycling in the area to check dashcam or cycle-cam footage for the incident or a silver car fleeing the scene.
Witnesses should contact police on 101, quoting log 1827 from 27 February.
