Four US Soldiers Killed in Deadly Iranian Drone Strike
The Pentagon has confirmed a deadly attack that wiped out four US Army Reserve soldiers in Kuwait. An Iranian drone struck a US command centre at Port Shuaiba on March 1, 2026, escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran to a dangerous new high.
Names of the Fallen Heroes
- Captain Cody A. Khork, 35, Winter Haven, Florida
- Sergeant 1st Class Noah L. Tietjens, 42, Bellevue, Nebraska
- Sergeant 1st Class Nicole M. Amor, 39, White Bear Lake, Minnesota
- Sergeant Declan J. Coady, 20, West Des Moines, Iowa
Drone Strike Hits Fortified US Base
The missile and drone attack struck a heavily fortified US military hub protected by concrete barriers, but the defences crumbled under the assault. The attack came just one day after joint US-Israeli strikes on Iran, which sparked swift Iranian retaliation across the Gulf.
All four fallen soldiers served in the 103rd Sustainment Command in Des Moines, Iowa. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth revealed only one projectile pierced the base’s air defences, but it was enough to cause fatal damage. The incident is still under intense investigation amid fears of more Iranian attacks.
Nation Mourns Fallen Soldiers
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Gen. Dan Caine, honoured the soldiers as “the best our nation has to offer” and “true examples of selfless service.” He offered “deepest condolences” to their families and vowed, “We will never forget you.”
Close friends and family paid touching tributes:
- A friend of Capt. Khork said he was “always there” in good times and bad, “a loyal friend who never complained.” “He died defending our freedom. Rest easy, brother.”
- An acquaintance of Sgt. Amor called her “a special person, a hell of a troop and an amazing mum,” highlighting her decorated military career since 2005, including deployments to Kuwait and Iraq.
Communities have rallied behind the families. In Minnesota, a meal train supports Sgt. Amor’s family. Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen ordered flags at half-staff for Sgt. Tietjens and called for prayers for all US troops.
Trump Pledges Vengeance
From Mar-a-Lago, President Donald Trump vowed to “avenge” the soldiers’ deaths.
“These brave men and women were true American patriots who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. Their mission was righteous, and their memory will inspire us all,” Trump said.
He warned the conflict could claim more lives but promised the US would deliver “the most punishing blow” to Iran and its proxies as tensions in the Gulf reach boiling point.
