DIY SOS Hits Grove Park With Urgent Call for Help

The BBC’s DIY SOS team, led by Nick Knowles, is rushing to Grove Park for a crucial home makeover. From April 2 to April 10, 2025, they’ll transform the Scott family’s house after devastating personal loss. Now, they need tradespeople and suppliers to step up — and fast.

Family Devastated by Tragedy Needs a New Start

In February 2023, mum Zoe died in a tragic accident, leaving behind five children: Somer (30), Samuel (25), Shay (19), Sadie (13), and Seth (9). Somer is training to be a doctor in Liverpool, but it’s Samuel who’s become the main carer, especially for Seth, who is blind, severely autistic, and battling renal failure.

The family’s home is cramped, rundown, and unsafe — with faulty electrics and an awkward layout that makes caring for Seth incredibly tough. DIY SOS aims to turn it into a safe, accessible, and functional haven tailored to their needs.

Tradespeople and Suppliers: Your Skills Are Needed Now!

The DIY SOS crew urgently seeks:

  • Window and door suppliers
  • Bespoke joiners
  • Telehandler operators
  • Plasterers

They’ve appealed on their official Facebook page:

“We need support from tradespeople, volunteers, and suppliers by donating skills and materials. Your generosity will help transform the lives of a local family by completely renovating their current space into a usable and fit-for-purpose home.”

Volunteers will get full catering on site and the chance to work directly with Nick Knowles and the DIY SOS team.

How to Join This Life-Changing Project

If you’re a trade pro or supplier who can lend a hand, you’re urged to get in touch immediately. Send your trade, availability, and contact details to [email protected].

The team adds:

“We offer a unique on-site experience, full catering, and the joy of volunteering with your community. Come and join Nick and the team on-site for as many days as you can possibly help with.”

This is your chance to make a massive difference to a family in dire need — and be part of a heartfelt UK home transformation frenzy!
