Shock at Portsmouth Community Hub After Two Vicious Break-Ins in a Fortnight

Portsmouth’s beloved Stacey Centre, a vital community hub and garden space in Copnor, has been targeted twice in just two weeks. Local volunteers are left devastated after ruthless thieves wrecked the centre, stealing cash and smashing club cupboards.

Thieves Wreak Havoc at Stacey Centre

The first break-in struck last Wednesday evening. CCTV footage captured four to five culprits forcing their way inside and causing chaos. The Stroke Club cupboard was smashed and one tin looted. The Friday Club shop and tuck shop were also hit, with the till stolen and smashed to bits.

The vandals didn’t stop there – they trashed the sweet carousel in reception, taking all the sweets and cash. Shockingly, just last night, the thugs broke into the ‘Men in Sheds’ workshop shed, adding fuel to the fire.

Volunteers Heartbroken as Centre Faces Uncertain Future

“These guys have worked really hard over the last 10 years to get the place up and running, it’s so disheartening,” a volunteer lamented. “We have clear footage of the first break-in and the faces of those responsible. This has been handed to police who are investigating.”

The Stacey Community Centre issued a heartfelt plea: “We are a small community. Breaking into a community building is NOT acceptable. This is a place for everyone, and one day, even those who damage it might need it.

“If this behaviour continues, the future of the community centre is at risk. If anyone has info, please come forward.”

Support Pours in to Save Local Gem

Community champion Amy O’Shaughnessy has launched a GoFundMe page to help cover repair costs. Locals are urged to donate and protect this treasured Portsmouth asset before it’s too late.
