A man is currently in hospital following an incident in Welling where a bus crashed into a tree, causing a branch to fall and injure a pedestrian on Sunday morning.
Emergency services were called to the junction of Faraday Road and Bellegrove Road at 11:24am after reports that a man had been hurt by a falling tree. Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service arrived quickly to provide medical assistance.
The injured man was stabilised at the scene before being transported to hospital. Authorities have confirmed that his injuries are serious but not life-threatening or life-changing.
Eyewitnesses reported that the tree fell after being struck by the bus. The bus driver remained at the scene and is cooperating fully with police investigations.
A spokesperson from the Metropolitan Police said: “We were called at 11:24hrs on Sunday, 27 April to reports that a man had been injured by a falling tree at the junction of Faraday Road and Bellegrove Road, Welling. Officers responded with other emergency services. A man was taken to hospital where his injuries were assessed as not life-threatening or life-changing. It’s thought the tree fell after being struck by a bus. Further enquiries will take place to establish the circumstances. The driver of the bus stopped at the scene.”
The London Ambulance Service has been contacted for further details. Residents are advised to avoid the area while investigations continue.
