Witnesses reported a huge explosion at the scene, with at least one person trapped inside the burning building. Firefighters are urging locals to steer clear of Borough Road and 1 Road as they fight to bring the fire under control.
Residents Urged to Keep Windows Shut
Frightened residents near the site have been told to keep windows and doors closed due to multiple large explosions shaking the area. The thick smoke and threat of further blasts mean safety is paramount.
Fire Crews Battle Intense Blaze
Merseyside Fire and Rescue confirmed six fire engines and 40 firefighters are tackling the well-developed fire. They were called just before 5pm on Monday, arriving to find a 30 by 20 metre building engulfed in flames.
A spokesperson confirmed: “Two persons are currently unaccounted for.” The search is ongoing as crews work tirelessly to control the situation.
