Drink-Drive Drama on Isle of Wight: Car Crashes into Embankment Outside Pub
Crash Outside Ryde Pub
Emergency services rushed to a single-vehicle crash on the Isle of Wight tonight. A blue Ford Focus ploughed into a grass embankment outside the Wishing Well pub on Pondwell Lane, Ryde.
Driver Suspected of Being Under Influence
Eyewitnesses say the driver took the turn too fast and appeared to be intoxicated. Officers from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight joint Road Policing team arrived on scene alongside an ambulance. One person was checked by paramedics and luckily, no injuries were reported.
Arrest Made at the Scene
The driver, a man, was arrested for drink or drug driving and taken to Newport Police Station. Police and members of the public moved the stranded Ford to clear the blocked road.
