Terror struck Lviv just before midnight as twin explosions ripped through the city centre. What started as a routine police call about a suspected break-in quickly turned deadly.
Two Blasts, One Hero Officer Killed
As the first patrol arrived at the scene, an improvised explosive device detonated without warning. Seconds later, a second police team was hit by another blast. The attack claimed the life of 23-year-old Police Sergeant Viktoriia Shpylka.
Tragic Life Cut Short
Viktoriia’s story is heartbreaking. Born in Volyn, she later lived in Kherson and graduated from Lviv State University of Internal Affairs. She proudly served in the patrol police and had married a fellow officer last autumn.
Russian Intel Suspected
Investigators have not ruled out Russian intelligence involvement in the attack, stoking tensions amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
