Reckless Driver Tears Through Villages in High-Speed Chase
At dawn on 25 February, a driver refused to stop for police on the A4 near Chippenham. Instead of pulling over, he sped off, weaving perilously along the A4 towards Calne, then darting onto the A342 at Old Derry Hill.
The wild chase saw the motorist roar through Derry Hill village, frequently driving on the wrong side of the road and dangerously whipping around roundabouts. Locals and other road users were left shaken by the sheer recklessness.
Police Deploy Road Stingers But Suspect Flees on Foot
Officers tried to bring the chase to an end by deploying road stingers near the A3102 bypass. Despite this, the driver kept racing until the car ground to a halt on Lickhill Road. The suspect then jumped out and sprinted away on foot. Police gave chase but lost him in the early morning shadows.
Man in His 40s Arrested After Targeted Police Operation
Following a targeted search, cops arrested a man in his 40s at a Calne address. He now faces serious charges including dangerous driving, failure to stop, and failure to provide a specimen.
