New research by Tempcover reveals a worrying gap in driver knowledge. Nearly three-quarters (72%) of UK motorists don’t even know AI cameras are live on the roads, spotting in-car offences like seatbelt dodging and phone use through the windscreen. The tech is being rolled out in different regions and on a trial bases for now, but the data shows a clear spike during Easter. More cars, stricter enforcement, and driver fatigue fuel this surge in penalties at holiday time.
Audi, Ford, Volkswagen Drivers Most Likely to Get Pinged

Seatbelt offenders face immediate £100 fines that can escalate to £500 in court. Using a handheld phone—even when stuck in traffic—will cost £200 and incur six penalty points.
