Wembley Man Jailed for Manslaughter of Andrew Ballantyne
Asher Anderson, 35, from Walton Gardens, Wembley, has been sentenced to nine years in prison for the manslaughter of Andrew Ballantyne. He also received a concurrent three-month sentence for a common assault earlier that same night.
High Wycombe Trio Also Jailed
James Scott, 32, of Hawthorne Road, High Wycombe, was handed six years and three months for his role in the manslaughter. At Reading Crown Court on 10 February, both Anderson and Scott pleaded guilty.
Meanwhile, Daniel Ramsey, 25, and Ramah Lampkin, 24, both from High Wycombe, pleaded guilty to violent disorder linked to the case. Ramsey got two years, and Lampkin was sentenced to two years and two months.
Nickolas Williams, 26, also from High Wycombe, received 18 months for violent disorder connected to Ballantyne’s death. He was also sentenced to eight months consecutively for assaulting another man on the same night.
Brutal Attack Ends in Tragedy
Andrew Ballantyne, 55, was found unconscious and not breathing on Micklefield Road on 31 July last year after being attacked by a group of men. Police attempted CPR immediately, followed by ambulance crews, but he was sadly declared dead at the scene.
All five men were arrested and charged with his murder in August 2021.
Police Statement on the Case
“This tragic case shows the devastating impact of group violence on vulnerable individuals,” said Detective Superintendent Kev Brown from Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit. “This was a targeted and opportunistic attack on Andrew, who was unfortunately known to all involved. The group assaulted him, recorded the attack, and fled when police arrived. All five pleaded guilty to their parts in this unlawful killing.
“Anderson and Williams also admitted to violence against another man just 40 minutes earlier, with all five present.
“I want to thank Andrew Ballantyne’s family and friends for their strength during this difficult investigation and the powerful Victim Personal Statements read in court. No family should have to endure such an ordeal.
“Justice has been served, and I hope Andrew’s loved ones find some comfort knowing those responsible are behind bars.”
