Armed Police Descend on West Wickham After Gun Sighting Reports
Armed cops rushed to Blakes Green, West Wickham, just after 9pm following reports that a group of youths were seen waving a firearm at others. Officers quickly stopped and searched several people in the area.
No Gun Found But Police Remain Vigilant
Despite the frantic police presence, no firearm was recovered. Nobody was arrested, and those spoken to were released without charge.
Police Praise Public Cooperation
“Any report regarding the sighting of a firearm is taken extremely seriously. On this occasion, a firearm was not located and those spoken to were not arrested,” said Insp Mackin.
“I would like to thank everyone who cooperated with, and assisted officers during this incident.”
The investigation is ongoing as officers remain alert to any weapons threats in the community.
