The closure has led to severe congestion on alternative routes. National Highways has reported:
A259 westbound: Queuing traffic from Bishopstone near Seaford through to Newhaven.
A259 eastbound: Slow and queuing traffic from Newhaven towards Rottingdean as drivers attempt to avoid the A27 closure.
Motorists are being urged to allow extra time for their journeys and to seek alternative routes where possible.
