A 41-year-old man from Oldbury has been convicted of murdering 19-year-old young mother Lily Whitehouse and attempting to cover up her death by falsely claiming she was hit by a vehicle. The tragic killing happened in Park Street, Oldbury on 5 November, when paramedics found Lily with fatal injuries shortly after 9.40pm.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
False Story Uncovered
Lily’s partner, Mohammed Azim, told emergency crews she was run over, initially saying she had been in his truck when the incident “literally just happened.” He later changed his story to the police, claiming he dropped Lily on Park Street, where a vehicle struck her as she crossed the road.
However, West Midlands Police uncovered CCTV footage that disproved his accounts. 
Damning CCTV Evidence
Reviewing footage, officers saw Azim collect Lily from Dudley and drive not home but to Old Park Lane.
Later, Lily was seen walking along a road before being struck by Azim’s own truck, contradicting his claims.
Following the strike, Azim then drove to Park Street while ringing 999, removed Lily from the truck, and left her there.
Trial And Conviction
Azim was arrested on suspicion of murder and offered no explanation during his police interview. Charged with murder, he was found guilty following a trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court.
Family Tribute
Lily’s family described her as a “beautiful mom” taken far too soon, expressing deep grief and disbelief. They find some comfort that justice has been served but lament the loss of someone full of life and unfulfilled dreams.
Police Statement
Detective Inspector Nigel Box of West Midlands Police’s Homicide Unit said Azim tried to hide the killing by fabricating a story about a second vehicle. The investigation proved Lily was killed nearby before being moved back to Park Street.
He emphasised Lily’s youth and her hopes of raising her baby, now tragically cut short.
