South Yorkshire Police have launched a murder investigation following the fatal shooting of a 30-year-old woman outside the One Four One bar on West Street, Sheffield, in the early hours of Monday 25 May.
The victim was found with serious injuries at 2.45am. She was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital, where she later died.
Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident. Two were detained near Stockport, including a 30-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman, while another 30-year-old man was arrested in Sheffield. All three remain in custody on suspicion of murder as detectives continue their investigation.
The shooting took place during a busy bank holiday weekend night in Sheffield city centre. Police responded promptly after receiving reports of gunfire outside the One Four One bar, a popular nightlife venue on West Street.
Assistant Chief Constable Colin McFarlane confirmed that the Major Crime Unit is leading the inquiry. Officers have maintained a strong presence in the West Street and Eldon Street areas and have appealed for witnesses to come forward. Anyone with information is urged to contact South Yorkshire Police directly or reach out to Crimestoppers anonymously.
ACC McFarlane described the incident as “devastating” and emphasised the profound impact gun crime has on victims and their families. He pledged to work tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice as the city responds to the tragic shooting during what is usually a busy night out.
