Defence Secretary John Healey has launched a thorough investigation into whether convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein used Royal Air Force (RAF) bases while visiting the United Kingdom. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) is currently reviewing all flight logs, military records, and emails to track the movements of Epstein’s private jet.
An MoD spokesman stated: “The defence secretary has ordered a review of all records that the department may hold relating to Epstein flights landing at RAF bases to ensure that any information which relates to Epstein’s crimes is uncovered and provided to the relevant authorities.” The MoD also confirmed it will fully cooperate with civilian police and expressed sympathies to Epstein’s victims.
This Defence Ministry investigation follows a separate inquiry by Essex Police into private flights connected to Epstein at Stansted Airport. An Essex Police spokesman confirmed: “We are assessing the information that has emerged in relation to private flights into and out of Stansted Airport following the publication of the US DoJ Epstein files.”
Adding to the controversy, former Prime Minister Gordon Brown revealed in the New Statesman that Epstein’s infamous “Lolita Express” private jet made approximately 90 flights to the UK, including 15 after Epstein’s 2008 conviction for child prostitution. Brown further alleged that flight manifests indicate Epstein smuggled girls from Latvia, Lithuania, and Russia through Stansted Airport, intensifying the scandal surrounding Epstein’s activities in the UK.
