At 3.45pm on Wednesday, February 15, emergency crews were called to a home on Durham Street, Lambeth. There, they discovered 56-year-old Shaun McEvoy unresponsive.

Despite the efforts of police and ambulance teams, Shaun was transported to a hospital in south London where he sadly passed away shortly after arrival.

A post-mortem examination conducted on February 17 indicated injuries consistent with an assault, although the results were inconclusive. The investigation has since been taken over by detectives from the Specialist Crime Command.

On March 2, 39-year-old Dedan Simmons, from Clapham Road, SW9, was charged with murder. He is scheduled to appear in custody at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on March 3.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson stated: “Officers responded and administered emergency first aid. The victim has been formally identified as Shaun McEvoy, and his next of kin has been notified. Detectives are continuing their investigation.”

The Metropolitan Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them via 101 or tweet @MetCC with reference 4756/15FEB.
