Hampshire police have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of a woman’s body at a property in Hartley Road, Hilsea, Portsmouth, on Monday evening.
Paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service found the body at around 7.40pm on May 25.
A 60-year-old man from Portsmouth has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in police custody.
Officers from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary are investigating the suspicious circumstances surrounding the woman’s death. Detectives have been deployed to the Hartley Road address to collect evidence and establish the full details of the case.
The arrested man remains held at a police station while enquiries continue. Police have not disclosed any further information about the relationship between the suspect and the victim.
Local officers are carrying out door-to-door enquiries in the area and are urging anyone with information or concerns to speak to uniformed police officers on patrol. The force emphasises the importance of community support in advancing the investigation.
