The A34 southbound is fully closed from Newbury to Andover following a serious crash. The affected section extends from the B4640 near Newbury to the A303 by Andover.

Hampshire Police and emergency services are currently at the scene managing the incident. Highways England has also deployed teams to help control traffic and reduce disruption.

Motorists are advised to expect significant delays and to allow extra travel time while the closure remains in effect.

Drivers heading southbound on the A34 should follow the solid black triangle diversion signs as an alternative route:

1. Leave the A34 at the Wash Common interchange.
2. At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto the A343.
3. Continue under the A34 for approximately 14 miles into Andover.
4. At the A3093 roundabout, take the 1st exit onto A3093 (1 Way).
5. Pass two roundabouts to reach the A303 Picket Twenty interchange.
6. Take the 1st exit onto the A303 eastbound for 5 miles.
7. Leave at the A34 Bullington Cross interchange.
8. Use the 2nd exit at the roundabout to a link road passing under the A34 and A303.
9. At the next roundabout, take the 2nd exit back onto the A34 southbound.

Alternatively, drivers are encouraged to delay their journeys until the road reopens. Authorities will provide updates as the situation develops.
