Emergency services scrambled to Mile End Road just after 2.30pm on Wednesday, April 21, following a serious collision. Four fire crews, paramedics, and a Hampshire Constabulary Roads Policing officer attended the scene to provide urgent assistance.
Three fire crews from Cosham and Southsea used specialist cutting and spreading equipment to carry out a dramatic roof removal in order to extricate the injured victim trapped inside the vehicle. The casualty was then carefully placed on a spinal board and treated by paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service.
The patient was rushed to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham for further medical treatment. Meanwhile, police closed the road to aid the rescue operation and to clear the wreckage of the write-off vehicle.
