Firefighters from Hampshire and the Isle of Wight were scrambled on the evening of the incident to tackle a major blaze at a flat located above a pizza shop on Cosham High Street.
Multiple fire engines from Cosham, Portchester, and Southsea rushed to the scene, with the aerial ladder platform from Southsea deployed to help control the spreading flames.
Upon arrival at 7:46pm, crews encountered heavy smoke pouring from the property as the fire had spread into the loft space above the flat.
Firefighters used breathing apparatus, three jets, two hose reels, the aerial ladder, and ventilation fans to fight the fire and clear the smoke from the building.
Fortunately, all residents were accounted for and safe. South Central Ambulance paramedics were on standby but were stood down as no medical assistance was required.
Hampshire Constabulary established a crime scene at the location and maintained a guard overnight. A full investigation into the cause of the fire is set to begin at first light.
Fire crews successfully brought the blaze under control by 9:38pm and were stood down shortly thereafter.
