On 4th December 2024, chaos erupted on Privett Road, Gosport, when 87-year-old James Masson suffered a heart attack while driving. His car crashed, leaving him with life-threatening injuries.
Police arrived on the scene within seconds and immediately began emergency CPR. An armed response unit also arrived equipped with a defibrillator. All five officers involved – PC 28411 Williams, PC 29988 Cole, PC 29126 Bark, PC 27956 Jones, and PS 20587 Wrenn – worked together to keep James alive until paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service took over.
Nearly a year later, thanks to the heroic efforts of the officers and emergency responders, James has made a full recovery. Recently, three of the officers met with James and his family for coffee and cake to celebrate his inspiring journey back to health.
A spokesperson said, “It was an absolute honour to meet James and hear about his incredible life. We are grateful to have witnessed his inspiring journey back to health.”
