Flames and thick smoke erupted from a terraced house on Tennyson Road, Southampton just after 8pm on Sunday. Firefighters quickly arrived at the scene and battled the blaze using two hose reels and three jets, tackling the fierce fire that gutted the ground floor.

During the rescue operation, crews removed three medical oxygen cylinders from the property to ensure safety. A woman in her 60s managed to escape the burning home but was rushed to hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation by South Central Ambulance Service.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Authorities have confirmed that the incident is not being treated as suspicious. The firefighting effort involved two crews from St Mary’s fire station and one crew from Hightown.
