A man was forced out of his home after a fierce fire tore through his property in Camberley this afternoon.

The fire is believed to have started in the bedroom of a bungalow on Kingston Road at around midday today (Monday, March 20). Surrey Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) quickly sent three fire engines and an aerial ladder platform to tackle the inferno.

An SFRS spokesperson said: “Fire crews wearing breathing apparatus entered the property and led a person to safety. No one else is unaccounted for.” Firefighters are currently using a hose reel jet alongside the aerial ladder platform to battle the flames.

The cause of the fire remains unknown. A fire investigation team is en route to determine what sparked the blaze. South East Coast Ambulance Service has also dispatched a Hazardous Area Response Team from Gatwick to assist at the scene.
