Police responded to a caravan park in Herne Bay after a teenage girl was found dead following a reported assault.

The incident occurred around 2pm on Friday, 21 July 2017, at the Westlands Caravan Park located on Canterbury Road.

The young woman, believed to be in her late teens, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services.

Kent Police and the South East Coast Ambulance Service attended the location after receiving the distress call.

A 63-year-old local man has been arrested and is currently in custody on suspicion of murder.

Authorities have confirmed that the man and the victim were known to each other, though further details have not been released as investigations continue.

Representatives from Westlands Caravan Park have declined to comment on the tragic incident.
