A serious six-vehicle crash on the M25 has caused major disruption, blocking three lanes and leading to heavy delays for drivers during rush hour. The collision involved two large goods vehicles (LGVs), including a loaded fuel tanker, as well as a red Ford Focus, a silver Ford people carrier, and a silver Vauxhall Vectra that left the road and went down an embankment after hitting road furniture.

Highways England officers are currently managing the scene, but drivers face significant hold-ups. The on-slip at Junction 6 (Godstone) has been closed, with local diversions in place marked by yellow square signs. There are reports of a two-hour delay between Junction 7 and Junction 5, with motorists advised to expect substantial congestion.

Emergency services responded swiftly to the incident. Kent Fire and Rescue dispatched several appliances, while two ambulances from the South East Coast Ambulance Service are treating multiple casualties at the scene. It remains unclear if any injuries are serious.

Recovery efforts are ongoing, with specialist contractors working to clear the fuel tanker and other damaged vehicles. Two lanes remain closed, and the clearance operation is expected to take several hours, potentially prolonging rush hour disruption.

Motorists are urged to stay updated on the situation and consider alternative routes while emergency teams continue their work.
