The A3 southbound was closed last Friday night following a hit-and-run collision near Wisley, Surrey. The crash, involving two vehicles, occurred just before 10pm on Friday, February 3rd, causing significant traffic delays.
Emergency services, including Surrey Fire and Rescue and South East Coast Ambulance Service, responded quickly to the scene. Firefighters used specialist cutting equipment to free a passenger who sustained serious injuries and was immediately taken to hospital.
Police confirmed that the incident involved a white Nissan sports car which collided with the central reservation at approximately 9.10pm on February 2nd. After the crash, the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.
Surrey Police stated, “We’re appealing for the public’s help to track down the driver who failed to stop.” The National Police Air Service joined the search, but the driver remains at large.
The A3 and sections of the M25 were closed overnight as collision investigators examined the scene. The roads reopened early on Saturday morning, providing relief to stranded motorists.
