The M25 has been closed near Heathrow Airport after a serious crash involving a lorry and a car. The closure affects the stretch between junction 14 (Stanwell Moor/Heathrow Airport) and junction 16 (M40).
National Highways confirmed the major incident early on Tuesday, March 28. The collision was reported just before midnight on Monday, March 27, and has forced emergency services to shut the clockwise carriageway.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police and London Ambulance Service were called to the M25 at junction 14 at 11.55pm on March 27 following reports of a collision involving a HGV and a car. The driver of the car was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.”
National Highways has implemented a detour for drivers. Motorists are advised to exit the M25 at junction 14 and follow a brief route via the M40 before rejoining the M25 at junction 16. Due to planned overnight roadworks closing the M4/M25 link roads, traffic is being redirected onto the M25 at junction 16, which is causing additional delays.
National Highways warned, “Motorists planning to travel in the area should avoid it altogether and seek alternative routes.”
Emergency services including police, London Fire Brigade, London Ambulance Service, and National Highways Traffic Officers are all at the scene managing the aftermath of the collision. The incident has caused significant disruption on one of Britain’s busiest motorway sections.
