Chaos erupted on Whitchurch Gardens, Canons Park, Edgware, on Monday evening, January 20, 2025, when a car overturned and smashed into a house. The incident occurred just before 9 pm, prompting a swift emergency response.

The London Fire Brigade (LFB) and Metropolitan Police were called to the scene around 8:50 pm. Residents shared images showing the area cordoned off by police. Three fire engines from Stanmore and Mill Hill were dispatched to manage the situation.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said, “Crews were called to reports of a road traffic collision with an overturned car that collided into a building on Whitchurch Gardens. No one was trapped and no injuries reported. The scene was made safe, and the incident wrapped up by 9:20 pm.”

Police confirmed they were alerted at 8:50 pm to respond to the crash. Officers assisted the fire brigade, but the driver had already fled the scene before their arrival. The investigation remains ongoing.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson stated, “Police were called at 20:50hrs following reports of a collision. The driver left the scene prior to police arrival. Enquiries remain ongoing.”

Although no injuries were reported, the crash caused significant disruption and raised concerns about road safety in the local community. The Metropolitan Police are urging anyone with information about the incident or the missing driver to contact them on 101, quoting reference JAN-21-WHITCHURCH. Anonymous tips can also be submitted via Crimestoppers.
