Two Kent Police officers on patrol in Hoads Wood made a significant recovery of stolen property worth thousands of pounds on Thursday lunchtime, 6 January 2022. While tackling rural crime, the officers noticed fresh tyre tracks leading deep into the woodland.
Following the trail, the officers uncovered a trailer loaded with builders’ tools and a generator, all believed to have been stolen. At around 12:30pm, they located the trailer hidden in the woods and used their 4×4 vehicle to drag it back to the entrance, seizing all items on site.
Police confirmed that these high-value items, including the trailer itself, had clearly been taken unlawfully. The operation was led by the Rural Task Force, a specialist unit dedicated to combating rural crime across Kent.
The Rural Task Force works closely with organisations such as the RSPCA, RSPB, and local councils to address issues affecting countryside communities. Understanding that rural residents often feel isolated, the unit has introduced quick-report tools like Country Eye and Farm Watch to help keep locals connected and vigilant.
Enquiries are ongoing to identify the rightful owners of the recovered goods and to track down those responsible for the theft. Kent Police are urging anyone who witnessed suspicious activity related to the stolen tools and trailer to come forward.
