Lee Rowley, 22, carried out a terrifying knife-point robbery on a 17-year-old teenager in Higher Kingston on the evening of Monday 7 November. Rowley sneaked up from behind the victim, forced him to the ground, threatened him, and snatched his wallet just after 7.30pm.
Police acted quickly to apprehend Rowley. Officers tracked him down and arrested him three days later in Glastonbury. At Taunton Crown Court on Friday 17 March, Rowley pled guilty to robbery and was sentenced to three years in prison.
In addition to the robbery charge, Rowley faced charges for carrying a bladed weapon. A screwdriver was found on him the day before the robbery, which resulted in an extra three-month sentence to be served consecutively with his robbery term.
PC Jim Card spoke about the case, stating, “This was a particularly unpleasant street robbery in Yeovil, which led to the victim attending hospital. We moved swiftly to identify Lee Rowley and arrested him in Glastonbury shortly after.”
He added, “The tough prison sentence today sends a clear message: the police and courts will deal robustly with dangerous offenders.”
