Police carried out a significant gun and drug raid in Thamesmead on Tuesday, September 17, resulting in the arrest of a suspect after DNA evidence linked them to a firearm discovered during the operation.
The joint operation was conducted by the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) and Kent Police, targeting gun crime and drug offences in the area.
During the extensive search, officers seized 3 kilograms of cocaine, amphetamines, tasers, and a substantial sum of £70,000 in cash. The suspect was arrested on the spot and now faces multiple charges related to firearms possession and drug offences.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said, “On Tuesday, September 17, MPS Proactive Investigations (SE BCU) and Kent Police executed a firearms warrant in Thamesmead. A suspect was arrested for possession of firearms linked to their DNA. The search revealed 3kg of cocaine, amphetamines, tasers, and £70k cash.”
The raid was part of Operation Bunting by the MPS and Operation Neon by Kent Police. Authorities described the joint effort as a major success in tackling serious crime.
Police investigations are ongoing to uncover the suspect’s wider connections and possible links to organised crime. Additional arrests are expected as the inquiry continues.
