Firefighters were called to Heath Road in East Farleigh, Maidstone, after a forklift caught fire just after 4am on Sunday.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) dispatched three fire engines promptly to tackle the intense blaze involving the agricultural vehicle.

Wearing breathing apparatus, the crews used a high-pressure hose reel jet to bring the fire under control within an hour. The fire was fully extinguished by 5.24am, with no injuries reported.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire was caused by a faulty fuel supply on the forklift. Fortunately, no one was harmed during the incident.

Emergency services are advising all vehicle owners, particularly those operating farm machinery, to conduct regular maintenance checks to prevent similar fires.
