A 36-year-old Crawley man, Robin Raison, was sentenced to over three years in prison following the discovery of cocaine and £5,000 cash at a rented property in Crawley.
The case, which involves the supply of Class A drugs, underscores the focus of law enforcement on tackling drug offences in West Sussex.
Arrest At Crawley Property
On 4 June 2024, police arrested Raison at a property he had rented for one night in Crawley. Officers suspected possession with intent to supply Class A drugs. During the arrest, quantities of cocaine and £5,000 in cash were seized.
The property owner was confirmed to have no links to Raison or the drugs found.
Progression Through Courts
Raison was initially released on bail but was charged on 14 July 2025 with possession with intent to supply Class A drugs. He appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on 20 August 2025 and was granted court bail.
A subsequent arrest led to an additional charge of the same offence. At a hearing in March 2026, Raison pleaded guilty to both charges and was remanded in custody pending sentencing.
Lengthy Sentence And Forfeiture
On 29 April 2026, Lewes Crown Court sentenced Raison to three years and two months in prison. The court also ordered the forfeiture of £3,000 cash, drug paraphernalia, and a mobile phone linked to the offences.
Police Response
Detective Inspector Gary Jacobs said, “I am pleased to see the sentence reflect the severity of Raison’s crimes. The supply of illicit drugs has a significant negative impact on our communities. We will remain relentless in our pursuit to catch offenders, bring them to justice and protect the public from the harm of illegal drugs and the supply of those substances.”
