Azra Williams, 58, from Bilston, Wolverhampton, was caught smuggling a large cocaine haul through Heathrow Airport. Border Force officers intercepted her after she arrived from Montego Bay, Jamaica, on Saturday, December 23.

Officers found 10 kilos of cocaine hidden inside the lining of a suit carrier within one of her checked bags. The street value of the drugs was estimated at approximately £800,000 once cut.

Williams has been charged with importing Class A drugs and appeared before Uxbridge Magistrates on Boxing Day. She was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear next at Isleworth Crown Court on January 25.

Piers Phillips, NCA Branch Operations Manager, praised the Border Force for their work during the festive period. He said, “NCA officers continue to work with our partners at Border Force over the festive period to make seizures like this and continue to disrupt the organised criminal groups involved in drug trafficking.”
