Emergency services rushed to the scene just after 4am on 12 April, responding to reports from the North West Ambulance Service. The victim had suffered multiple stab wounds. He remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital, with police confirming his injuries are not life-threatening.
Lancashire Police say the attack followed a confrontation around 3:25am between the victim and several men near Eagle Street, Ormerod Street, and Scaitcliffe Street. Three men aged 18, 20, and 23 have been arrested and are currently in custody.
“We are treating this as a targeted attack and are doing everything we can to identify exactly what happened and who was involved. We have stepped up patrols to reassure the public,” a police spokesperson said.
Officers want anyone near Eagle, Ormerod, or Scaitcliffe Streets between 3am and 4am to come forward. Taxi drivers and other motorists with dashcam footage are urged to check their recordings. Businesses and residents with CCTV are also asked to review footage for any clues.
