A notorious drug den in Basingstoke has been permanently closed after a police crackdown. The closure order, approved by Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, July 6, targets a house on Worting Road following numerous complaints about disorder and criminal activity.

Hampshire Constabulary collaborated with Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council to address the trouble hotspot. The property had become a centre for drug offences and anti-social behaviour, severely affecting local residents.

The court order, which lasts for three months, makes it a criminal offence to enter the property without police permission. This measure is intended to stamp out crime and protect the community.

Sergeant Trevor Taylor of the Basingstoke Neighbourhood Policing Team issued a warning to those involved in criminal activities. He said, “This action has been taken following increasing reports of criminal behaviour associated with the address in recent months. The activities of occupants at this property have had a huge impact on those living nearby and beyond.”

He added, “This order sends out a strong message: we will not tolerate this kind of behaviour and will use every power to stop it.”

Sergeant Taylor also urged the public to assist the police in tackling crime. “The information we receive from the public is vital in making our community a safe place to live. If you’re worried about drug-related crime or anti-social behaviour near you, contact your local Neighbourhood Policing Team on 101. Or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 to report anonymously.”
