Early Monday morning, around 60 firefighters and eight fire engines were dispatched to a significant house fire on Melford Road, Forest Hill. The fire brigade received the call at 7am and quickly mobilised crews from West Norwood and nearby stations.

The blaze gutted the entire first floor of the property and caused severe damage to the roof. Fortunately, a man and a woman managed to escape the home unharmed before the fire crews arrived on the scene.

Neighbours were also affected by the incident. A woman from a nearby property was checked over by London Ambulance Service paramedics at the scene but did not require hospital treatment.

Thanks to the swift response, the fire was brought under control by 9am. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire as part of ongoing inquiries.
