A woman suffered multiple serious injuries after her car was involved in a head-on collision on the A280 at Long Furlong on Wednesday morning, September 23.

The crash occurred just before 9.30am between Findon and Clapham. A southbound black Chrysler Voyager, driven by a 25-year-old man from Crawley, collided head-on with a northbound white Toyota Aygo, driven by a 60-year-old woman.

The man and his passenger sustained minor bumps and bruises and were able to walk away from the crash. However, the Toyota driver was rushed to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton with serious injuries.

The A280 was closed while emergency crews worked to rescue victims, clear the wreckage, and investigate the scene. The road reopened around 3.30pm.

Police are appealing for witnesses who saw the crash or have dashcam footage from before the accident to come forward. Anyone with information can report online or call 101, quoting Operation Envelope.
