Police are searching for Shuyi Xu, a 17-year-old Chinese national who was last seen near Barnet on Wednesday, 4 January. Shuyi arrived alone at Heathrow Airport from China on 23 December and was last spotted wearing a white jumper, black skirt, and white flats.
After arriving in London, Shuyi stayed at several addresses in east London, including Shoreditch and Whitechapel. On 29 December, Heathrow staff noticed her and alerted police, who took her into protection due to welfare concerns. She was then handed over to local authorities.
However, just days later, Shuyi disappeared without a trace. Police have stated there is no evidence of serious harm at this time, but they remain very concerned about her welfare.
Detective Inspector Daniel Branch said, “Shuyi speaks Mandarin and limited English. This was likely her first time in the UK, and she’s unfamiliar with London. We’re piecing together her movements and who she might have been with. I urge Shuyi or anyone who has seen her to get in touch immediately.”
