Chaos erupted in Bexleyheath in the early hours of Sunday, January 4, when gunfire was heard on Broadway at around 2.15am. Police were called to the scene after a man in his 30s was found with serious head injuries, prompting a major emergency response.

Thirty-four-year-old Carlos Parks, from Sidcup Road, Eltham, was arrested at the scene. He has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm. Parks appeared at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on January 6 and was remanded in custody.

The injured man was taken to hospital and is now reported to be in a stable condition. Police lifted the large cordon that had stretched from Lion Road to Albion Road early on Monday, helping to ease tensions in the community.

Residents in Bexleyheath are concerned about the rise in gun crime following the shooting in their town centre. Authorities have urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward as the investigation continues.
